We ventured forth on a SUPER hot and muggy day. We decided to also test out which train station was closer to get to from our apartments. 45 sweaty minutes later, we conclusively determined that it is closer to get to the other station by the soccer stadium. Of course, I don't like running across 6 lanes of highway.... so it's still a coin toss for me.
After a short train ride, we ended up in Tanggu, another suburb -- closer to Tianjin than we are. We usually go to this stop to get to Vanguard (a department store/supermarket), and also the Yanghuo market (Foreign market). We had been told that the fabric market was close by.
15 minutes later, Success! We located the Fabric Market! Our clues "it's a building that is just a little further back from the street, just past the traffic light"

Here is a picture of me inside the market. Essentially, there is a giant middle section chockerblock full of fabrics of every type and style. Each stall is run by a different person. They also have books and pictures of different kinds of clothing for you to point at if you so choose.
Along the sides of the buildings are where the tailors are. If you wanted to get something made, you can go up to the tailor, and tell them, then they will go into the middle section with you to help you select the fabric. One week later, you go back and pick up your item. They also have examples of other things you can make/buy.

We did not purchase anything. Now that the reconnaisance is done, we are planning to return armed with pictures and examples of what we want. The vice principal had ordered three shirts though, and she spent 40 RMB total on fabric, and 40 RMB for labour for each shirt. The total cost of each about 55 RMB for each item, or.... less than $10 CDN for a custom made fitted shirt!
I am now taking recommendations of what I should get done. I think a new suit is in order for Calvin.

You should get a suit. With pants and also a skirt. And maybe some blouses?? Those are always hard to get the perfect fit so now you can get them custom made!! And yes, suit for Calvin is a good idea...is it really cheap??
